Steve began his career as an 18 year old playing in
Black social clubs in Waterbury CT. He has since performed
and/or recorded with Red Rodney, Dewey Redman, Ed Blackwell,
Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, N.R.B.Q., Little Feat, Brad
Meldhau and a host of others from NYC to Northern Italy.
Earned
a Masters of Music at the University of Maryland where he
founded The Experimental Music Performance Organization
(TEMPO) and played with Mobtown Modern and the Great Noise
Ensemble. Now plays with Improv Trio Broadcloth, folk
decocntructivists Dr. Caterwaul’s Cadre of Clairvoyant
Claptraps, Anthony Braxton’s Tri-Centric Orchestra and the
American Baroque Orchestra.
A
Singular Guitarist with a rock, jazz and experimental music
background, Bob leads the New Haven Improvisers Collective
and several offshoot bands. Bob has led NHIC through a
conduction with Lawrence D. “Butch” Morris, a site specific
long-form composition at the International Festival of Arts
and Ideas, and a stream of new music at avant festivals and
venues around New Haven. Also produced 5 CDs for NHIC
Records that have gotten national and international radio
play and press.
Performs on Acoustic and Electric Bass throughout the
northeast, leading his own Jazz groups and playing with
groups from electric latin to Americana. Founder of
the Minneapolis Free Music Society, a large collective of
musicians engaged in experimental and free improvisation.
Composes
electronic music as G. Zarapanecko, and neo-cabaret
songs as An Historic. Integral member of the Improv
Trio Broadcloth, folk rebels Dr. Caterwaul’s Cadre of
Clairvoyant Claptraps and improv-electrominimalists Erasmus
Quintet. Has also performed with Anthony Braxton.
Stephen Zieminski is a multi-percussionist
active in progressive rock and jazz circles. He has played
with Greylyng, New
Haven Improvisers Collective, Prestor John, Ed Lawrence and
Carl Peters
Orchestra, Butch Morris and Toy Masheen. He studied tabla
from tabla maestro
Kumar Das with additional guidance from Pt. Subhankar
Banerjee.
